Available Construction & Features
Why Choose Luxury Vinyl Plank
100% Waterproof Construction
SPC and WPC rigid cores are completely impervious to standing water, spills, and humidity. Install with confidence in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, basements, and entryways without seam swelling or cupping.
Dimensional Stability for Radiant Heat
Stone Polymer Composite cores remain stable across wide temperature swings, making SPC the preferred choice over radiant heat and in homes with large, sun-exposed window walls. Expansion gaps stay smaller than wood or laminate.
Scratch & Dent Resistance
Wear layers from 12 mil for light residential through 28 mil for heavy commercial protect against pet claws, dropped cookware, dragged furniture, and high-traffic abrasion. Embossed surfaces hide micro-scratches.
Click-Lock Floating Installation
Modern angle-tap and drop-lock systems install over flat plywood, concrete, vinyl, or tile without glue or nails. Floating installation simplifies subfloor prep, supports DIY projects, and reduces professional labor time.
Attached IXPE Underlayment
Most rigid-core collections ship with a factory-bonded acoustic pad that softens footfall sound, evens out minor subfloor variation, and adds underfoot warmth without a separate underlayment purchase or extra labor step.
Realistic Wood & Stone Visuals
High-definition printing paired with embossed-in-register (EIR) texturing aligns the visible grain with the surface emboss, producing oak, walnut, hickory, and stone visuals that read as authentic from standing height.
How to Read an LVP Spec Sheet
Wear Layer Thickness
The clear top layer measured in mils (thousandths of an inch). 12 mil suits light residential. 20 mil is the sweet spot for active households with pets and children. 28 mil handles commercial traffic and rentals.
Core Type — SPC vs WPC
SPC (Stone Polymer Composite) uses a dense limestone-vinyl core for maximum rigidity, temperature stability, and dent resistance. WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) uses a foamed core that reads softer and warmer underfoot. Both are 100% waterproof.
Attached Pad & Total Thickness
Most rigid-core LVP includes a factory-bonded IXPE or cork pad rated IIC 50–71 for sound. Total plank thickness typically runs 4–8 mm for SPC and 8–12 mm for WPC. Thicker planks bridge minor subfloor irregularity better.
Dimensional Stability & Expansion
SPC cores expand less than 0.05% under temperature change versus 0.20% or more for WPC and laminate, allowing tighter expansion gaps and longer continuous runs without T-molding transitions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between SPC and WPC luxury vinyl plank?
SPC (Stone Polymer Composite) uses a dense limestone-vinyl core for maximum rigidity and temperature stability — the best choice for high-traffic areas, commercial spaces, and rooms with radiant heat. WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) uses a foamed core that reads softer and warmer underfoot, preferred for living rooms and bedrooms where comfort is the priority. Both are 100% waterproof.
What wear layer thickness do I need?
For light residential use, 12 mil is sufficient. For active households with pets and children, 20 mil is the recommended minimum. For commercial or heavy-traffic applications, 28 mil provides the longest service life. NexxaCore Summit ships with a 28 mil Guardia G3 wear layer.
Can luxury vinyl plank be installed over existing floors?
In most cases yes. Click-lock LVP can float over existing hardwood, tile, sheet vinyl, or concrete provided the subfloor is flat within 3/16" over 10 feet, dry, and structurally sound. Carpet must be removed first. Our specialists assess each subfloor and recommend the correct preparation.
Is LVP suitable for bathrooms and kitchens?
Yes. Rigid-core SPC and WPC luxury vinyl plank is 100% waterproof and engineered for wet areas including kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements. Use silicone perimeter caulk in showers and around tubs for a fully sealed installation.
How does luxury vinyl plank compare to laminate?
LVP is 100% waterproof through the core, softer and quieter underfoot, and dimensionally stable enough for radiant heat. Laminate offers a harder surface with stronger scratch resistance and more authentic embossed wood textures at a lower price point. Both install as floating floors. The choice comes down to moisture exposure and underfoot feel.
